What a pity for the world that illness prevented Beethoven from beginning his tenth symphony. But no doubt St.Peter commissioned it the minute Ludwig walked through the Heavenly Gates. I do hope he wasn't restricted in his composition by the presence of all those rather twangy harps.....
The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 125th Anniversary Season next year.
A week later, we went to the symphony. I'll never forget how Beethoven's Ninth left us shaking and unable to drive home for an hour. We walked in the city's rose garden and talked.
