Until recently, I had a trusty old pair of gardening shoes 'hush puppies' that gambolled out into the garden with me in all wet and muddy weathers. An unfortunate and confused lady turned up at my door with bare feet last autumn and seemed pleased when offered the shoes to continue her wanderings in. It never occurred to me that I would never see my faithful hush puppies again and oh, how I miss them. I hope they've gone to a good home.....
