Castration is often the only recourse for men suffering with advanced prostrate disease. Losing one's balls is most traumatic because so much of the male identity and self-esteem is associated with the testicles. However, as I can attest, life goes on after their removal. There is the initial depression – partly due to the body not having the testosterone to which it had been accustomed. But after an acceptance of the reality, there appears a light illuminating another path to happiness. For me, it now has become a more fulfilling life than before ! Gone are the preoccupation with sexual acquisitions (and the degrading of women and myself). Rather than losing appeal to women (as feared) I have found an understanding woman with whom there is a respect and a mutually satisfying expression of love, including sex i.e., cunnilingus.
