Someone I knew once gave me a new insight into Christmas by writing it as 'Christmess'. Having just staggered home after 'festive' shopping – and seen signs in a clothes shop window that read 'Marry Christmas – Yes, I do, but not with you' – I think I know again exactly what he means.
